SWAFFORD/TOLE & CEVOLI/EVANS WIN ON POMONA LAKE, KS CRAPPIE USA SUPER EVENT TOURNAMENT

Pomona Lake, KS - 4/6/02: "Our tournament on Pomona Lake saw light rain, breezy conditions, and water levels about four feet below normal pool" says tournament director Bill Shackelford. "We had 26 Semi-Pro teams and 33 Amateur teams fish for a $5,390 payback.

Semi-Pro Winners

First Place: Jack Swafford from Eldorado, KS and Ray Tole from Towanda, KS won $1,400 with their hard-earned 9.6-pound catch. The team fished vertically with yellow and white Crappie Pro jigs 12 to 14 feet deep.

Second Place: Dale Parrish from Roach, MO and Mike Loman from Camdenton, MO fished seven to 10 feet deep with yellow and white tube jigs tipped with minnows to catch 9.46 pounds of crappie worth a $700 check. The team also caught Mitchell Reels Big Fish weighing 2.04 pounds for another $290.50.

Third Place: John Boise from Warsaw, MO and Noel Fernandez from Deepwater, MO boated 9.43 pounds for a $500 payday. They fished two feet deep in shallow timber.

Fourth Place: Frank Steeham from Kansas City and Joe Johns from Stockton, MO won $400 with a 9.4-pound catch.

Male/Female Winners: Merrill Coleman and Paula Hubbs from Topeka, KS.

Amateur Division

First Place: Ottowa, KS team of Mike Cevoli and Kevin Evans trolled pink and chartreuse tube jigs 20 to 22 feet deep to catch 9.52 pounds of crappie earning them $750.

Second Place: Don Hess from Topeka, KS and Ron Erhard from Wellsville, KS caught 9.44 pounds vertically jigging 12 to 14 feet deep. They took home $350.

Third Place: Rossville, KS team of John Robb and Doug Woods vertically jigged blue/white jigs 12 feet deep around brush to boat 8.82 pounds of crappie for a $200 check.

Fourth Place: Jim Borders and Polly Kennedy from Leawood, KS caught 7.66 pounds for $150.

Fifth Place: Steve Rogers from Belton, MO and Jim Stewert from Grain Valley, MO won $125 with a 7.24-pound catch.

Second Place Mitchell Reels Big Fish: Lynn Beckwith and Joseph Crai from Topeka, KS won $124.50. Weight of the fish was not given.

Adult/Youth Winners: Ron Doty and Russell Doty from Topeka, KS

Male/Female Winners: Shawn Edwinson and Michele Jump from Lawrence, KS.

Winner of Boat Drawing at Classic: Ray Brooks from Perry, KS.

Regional Drawing Winner: Mike Cevoli from Ottawa, KS.
